Environmental OrganisationsThe following environmental organisations focus on the damaging effects of climate change and avidly campaign and promote environmental awareness. www.greenpeace.orgGreenpeace is present in 40 countries across Europe, the Americas, Asia and the Pacific. To maintain its independence, Greenpeace does not accept donations from governments or corporations but relies on contributions from individual supporters and foundation grants. Greenpeace has been campaigning against environmental degradation since 1971 when a small boat of volunteers and journalists sailed into Amchitka, an area north of Alaska where the US Government was conducting underground nuclear tests. This tradition of 'bearing witness' in a non-violent manner continues today, and our ships are an important part of all our campaign work. www.foe.co.ukFriends of the Earth wants a healthy planet and a good life for everyone on it. The UK's most influential environmental campaign group, we've inspired many of the biggest wins for the planet – from curbing acid rain to laws bringing recycling to every doorstep and, through our Big Ask campaign, ensuring the UK takes a lead in tackling climate change. Most of the money we spend comes from members of the public - these 100,000 supporters in the UK are part of the world's largest environmental network acting together to make life better now and for future generations.
