Eco Metal Paint

The following article looks at the different types of eco metal paints available for your home.

Check with your local paint manufacturer for specific details of their environmentally friendly & healthy paint types.

Ideally search for products with as many of the characteristics listed below as possible.

Metal primer

  • Suitable for steel and copper metal work
  • Antioxidant
  • Rust free formula
  • Ingredients include: plant resins and minerals
  • Suitable for temperatures up to 80 degree Celsius
  • Ensure that the base metal has been degreased and derusted

Radiator Paint

  • Suitable for primed or previously painted radiators
  • Suitable for cast iron and steel radiators
  • Solvent free
  • Quick drying
  • Non yellowing
  • Low or zero odour
  • Low or zero VOC emissions
  • No formaldehyde
  • Suitable for temperatures up to 70 degree Celsius
  • Can be coloured with mineral pigments
  • Available in gloss / satin gloss / silk matt finishes

Undercoat

  • Suitable for primed or previously painted metal work
  • Biodegradable
  • Soya oils are quicker drying
  • Linseed oils are slow to dry
  • Microporous
  • Suitable for a base coat
  • Ingredients include: natural plant oils, linseed oil and soya oil

Gloss

  • Good weathering resistance
  • Quick drying
  • Lead free drying agent
  • Low or zero odour
  • Low or zero VOC emissions
  • No formaldehyde
  • Suitable for interior and/or exterior applications
  • Solvent free
  • Microporous
  • Biodegradable
  • Hypoallergenic
  • Can be coloured with mineral pigments
  • Natural orange or lemon fragrance

Gloss / silk gloss / matt silk

  • Ingredients include: plant oils, plant resins, linseed oils, castor oil, sunflower oil, citrus peel oil, soy derivative, clay and mineral pigments

White topcoat – gloss / satin matt

  • Ingredients include: orange oil, linseed oil, castor oil and stand oil

Gloss oil / satin gloss oil

  • Ingredients include: natural resins
