Eco Interior Designer - Nicola Elizabeth Jones BA FSSA

My journey to Interior Design in the city of Dublin, Ireland.

From as long as I can remember my passion has been design. I grew up in the South East of England, and over my childhood years my love of art, creativity and design grew. As a young adult in the interior design world, I worked in both residential and commercial companies, absorbing design know-how and loving every second.

As the owner of Earth Balance Interiors, I am passionate about Holistic Interior Design & Classical Feng Shui. I have been in the design industry for over 11 years with 7 years in the UK working on commercial & residential projects, before leaving the shores of England to work in Czech Rep and Germany. My expertise ranges from storage design, kitchen design, interior décor, effective space planning to restaurant fit outs – specialising in practical, functional and budget conscious design solutions. My aim is to create designs that waste less and recycle more – rejecting consumerism and investing in what we have.

I also hold 4.5 years teaching experience working both in the classroom & distance learning setting with adult design students. During my time as a tutor I worked with students from Certificate level (lighting design, project management, curtains & soft furnishings, colour consultancy) to Higher National Diploma level (first 2 years of the BA programme) in interior architecture. My role at a Dublin based college was the Interior Design Programme Leader, where I developed and managed a range of interior design courses and tutors.

I moved to Ireland in 2006 and ever since, I’ve been raising the profile of eco-friendly design and build across the nation.

Eco Interior Designer

Over the years my interest in ecology came from a variety of influences. Looking back, I began to pick apart each company, design and manufacturer in terms of ecological footprints. What I found was a distinct lack of research, commitment and integration of all three elements; construction, human health & wellbeing and our natural environment. The spark I needed was born and I chose to dedicate my career and personal ethos towards all things holistic.

Through continual research, development and life long learning my own eco expertise is ever growing. And so it is my personal responsibility to stay ahead of trends and advances in holistic interior design construction methods, materials and products. Lastly my professional responsibility is to provide you with uncompromised design solutions, environmentally friendly and ethical choices for your home, workplace and lifestyle.
